Richie Havens is mostly known because of his Live Music performance at the Woodstock Festival. But his Live Music was exceptional not only on such unusual occasions. Each Live performance by him was a kind of a masterpiece – his characteristic guitar style used to play touching and extremely emotional covers of folk and pop songs are well known among his fans.
Before Woodstock Havens was one of many artists who did their best to start a career on the field of Music. Of course he played in some local clubs and his Live performances had an audience, but it was nothing exceptional. Fortunately for Richie, he was given a chance to open one of the most popular festivals in the history. His Live performance was the first one that evening, although originally it was supposed to be the fifth. Thanks to this performance his Music found the way to a wider audience. One of his songs was put in a Woodstock movie which gained even more popularity for the artist.
Heavens didn’t lose his chance. He started recording his Music and giving an astonishingly number of concerts. An he is still an active musician. He has planned a big tour even this year (for instance he’s going to play a concert in London in February this year).
He is not only known from his Live Music as a way to entertain his fans but also a tool in charity. A percentage of the income from his Live Music concerts helped to build an organization to educate children about environmental issues.
