The Artic Monkeys is an example of a band which gained popularity mainly thanks to their Live Music. They didn’t put their adverbs on TV or teenagers magazines – they simply played concerts. Their Live Music was put by their young fans in the Internet and due to it the band became famous.
There is a group of artists who prefers recording the music to giving Live performances. They get most of their earnings from selling CDs instead of concert-tickets. The Arctic Monkeys are definitely not among them. Thy didn’t bother with creating a commercial campaign of their Music. They didn’t try to get themselves into talk shows or radio programmes. They were simply themselves – people who loved creating Music and sharing it with other people. It was quite risky, because nowadays a good advertisement in the media is the most powerful tool in creating a star. This band simply had talent to Live performances – and they took advantage of it. It turned out that the Internet can be a great way to make your Music popular. From the Internet their songs went directly to the first positions of British lists of hits. Their first album was sold out very quickly. It was an exceptional album in the history of British Music. It was even awarded with BRIT Award. This ceremony took place in London – their fans had another occasion to see them Live.
Of course it wasn’t the last opportunity for them. The Artic Monkeys still play a lot of Live Music. The kind of music they play – indie rock - is becoming more popular nowadays. The growing popularity of the band gives us hope that some day also Poles will get the occasion to listen to their Live Music.
